Well, I find that having some caffeine in the morning to be critical to functioning.  It is a ritual so many of us undergo every day.

In the beginning there were beans.  And they were good.  Although I enjoy munching on coffee beans, it doesn't give me quite as much enjoyment as the beverage does.  In any event, that morning cup of coffee is surrounded by so much symbolism, so much mysticism.  In some ways, I find it quite analogous to the 'Spice' talked about in Frank Herbert's Dune series.  

One day, while drinking some coffee, I wrote a small reflection on it, I'll share it with you all now:

The alure of the bean.

I find myself surrounded by the scent of roasting coffee beans as light, Christmas themed, jazz plays in the background.  As I sit in these trendy surroundings, looking hip in my bluejeans and black leather jacket, I sip at a drink with a name I cannot pronounce, let alone spell.  And I ponder and muse and I'm suddenly struck by a flash of creativity.  I pull out my iBook and begin typing.  

What is it that draws someone like me to a place like this?

Another sip and the hot liquid courses down my throat, almost painful but not quite.  The bitter taste of the beverage is tempered by the steamed milk that they got out of a machine that sputtered and growled.

Why do I spend such exhorbant sums of money on a beverage?

I look in the cup, swirl it around a bit.  I bring it up to my nose and sniff it.  It is just a liquid.  One that contains caffeine, but still, caffeine can be synthesized and has and yet, it isn't the same.  

I remember as a kid, I used to hate coffee.  Way too bitter.

And yet now, I crave it's cleansing warmth on my palate.  It becomes an integral part of my day, when I don't drink it, it feels like there is something missing.  But it isn't a caffeine addiction.  There is something more to it then that.

I stare into my cup, at the rapidly vanishing liquid.  Soon, a fine silt, almost a sludge, is all that is left.

Finished, I pack up and leave.  Ready to return again tomorrow.

Now, for my brew method:

I like to do it as they did in ancient times.  I play the emperor and they play the servent.  I go to my local place of coffee drinking and get whatever it is I fancy at the time.  Usually it is cappuchino.

Lol, the one course I'm naturally good at, programming...

lets just say my last 2 programs haven't really worked.

Or rather they work but not correctly.

Oho!! My new, non explosive battery arrived yesterday.  So there is no need to fear for my safety, wonderful people.  It's funny cause we're studying batteries in my basic electricity class.  And so... I decided to switch them.  But! my computer doesn't like not having electrons and so it turned off... I was expecting it too and wanted to see how it handled it and it did ok.

*sips* rawr! caffeine!

I need to shave.

I need a haircut too.  

I look like an anus... Ok, not really, but lol.

I'm cold, someone hold me?
